Kym is a second-generation psychic and evidential medium who inherited her extrasensory abilities from her mother, Joan Friel Durham. Joan was a renowned medium in her own right, well known by federal, state, and local authorities for her work on over 240 forensic mediumship cases.

In 1974, Joan founded Psychic Studies & Investigations (PSI); a pioneering parapsychology group dedicated to exploring all realms of the paranormal.
